Who are “The Sons of Montana” That We Keep Hearing About?
Betrayal. If I could use one word to sum up the 2024 elections, it is that word- betrayal.
When Navy SEAL veteran Tim Sheehy talks about the betrayal he felt after the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, it's very powerful. I thought of the betrayal our Vietnam Veterans felt when I got to see the travelling wall in Butte, Montana.
When our laid off Stillwater Miners talk about working long, hard shifts underground mining just to see their tax dollars be spent on a war overseas...while Russia gets to import their palladium into America...I thought of the betrayal they feel.
When our friends in Indian Country talk about seeing their money go to illegal aliens, while they pay more for groceries, gas and everything else...and the drug cartels target our reservations...I thought of the betrayal they feel.
That word betrayal came to mind once again on Thursday morning as I was chatting with "the Sons of Montana."
Who are "the Sons of Montana?" Judge Dan Wilson and Iraq War veteran Cory Swanson- two candidates for the Montana Supreme Court.
Judge Dan Wilson is the judge who stood up for freedom when it mattered most. (Click here to read my first profile of him)
Cory Swanson is the county attorney in Broadwater County. He's a multi tour Iraq war veteran and full bird Colonel still serving in the Montana Army National Guard. (Click here to read my first profile of him)
As we were talking about the soft on crime approach taken by the current majority on the Montana Supreme Court, the Sons of Montana told me how victims are being re-victimized as the Montana Supreme Court is forcing these victims to relitigate the crimes that were committed against them. What a travesty.
It's a betrayal to the victims of these crimes. It's a betrayal to the prosecutors. It's a betrayal to the incredible victim advocates who work for many of these county attorney offices. And it's a betrayal to the law enforcement officers risking their lives to bring these criminals to justice.
Let that betrayal drive you to get out and vote like your vote is the only vote that matters this November 5th.
