Will this Navy SEAL rescue Montana from liberal Senator Jon Tester (D-MT)?

I first got the chance to meet US Navy SEAL veteran and Purple Heart recipient Tim Sheehy several years ago, just as he was getting his business started in the Bozeman area after retiring from the military. I also had the honor of serving on a US Military Academy Nominating Board with his wife Carmen.

They are an incredible family. They both attended the US Naval Academy and served our country in the Armed Forces. Since then, they've started some of the most successful homegrown businesses based in the Bozeman area.

Turns out, top Republicans like Montana Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), who now chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) are very hopeful that they can land Sheehy as a top recruit to run against liberal Senator Jon Tester in the very important 2024 US Senate race.

As Axios reported earlier this month, Sheehy is already receiving praise from Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke (a fellow SEAL who pinned on Sheehy's Purple Heart) and Governor Greg Gianforte (R-MT):

  • "Tim Sheehy is a good friend, a successful businessman and a decorated veteran who served his country with honor and valor. Montana and our nation would be better for his continued public service, and I’m confident without a doubt he would serve Montana well as a senator," Gianforte said in a statement to Axios.

Over the weekend, Senator Tester told The Daily Inter Lake how the United States "has farted around in the Middle East forever." That comment did not sit well with a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan like Sheehy. He told this to Fox News in a big story that came out Thursday morning:

Sheehy: I was there, and I can promise you I wasn’t farting around. As the Chair of the Senate Veterans Affairs’ Committee, Senator Tester should have a better vocabulary to use for our veterans.

I'm an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran myself, and our guys weren't "farting around" either when we were taking down high value targets in Iraq, rescuing a baby girl in Afghanistan, and much more. If anyone has been "farting around" these past two decades- it is Washington, D.C. politicians like Jon Tester.

*By the way- the photos above are from a story I did on Tim Sheehy back in 2019 when he survived a plane crash in Florida and credited the heroic neighbors who came to his aid.
