The long haul to election day is almost over. The polls will be open on Tuesday at 7:00 a.m.

Elections Administrator Rebecca Connors has been literally on the run for weeks preparing for the general election, and provides last-minute information to voters in Missoula County.

'While we have time left, voters should go online to the My Voter page MT dot com to check their voter status," Connors said. "This will help them to see if they're registered to vote before election day. If you are a registered voter and haven't received a ballot yet, you have till noon on election day to request an absentee ballot, and if you miss that deadline, you have to appear at your polling place on election day to receive your ballot."

Connors said the election headquarters at the Missoula County Fairgrounds is open extended hours prior to Tuesday's election.

"We're open until six this week, and then this Saturday we're open from 10 till one," she said. "We're expecting long lines on election day here at the fairgrounds."

Connors said the absentee ballots have been coming in steadily.

"We've probably received over 60 percent of the absentee ballots today (Thursday)," she said. "We issued over 47,000 absentee ballots, and in the past we'd get a bunch in right after they were mailed and then it would plateau, but this year, everybody wants to get their ballot in."

Connors said polls in Missoula County will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on election day.
