Local Businessman Nominated as America’s Best Crossing Guard
Safe Kids Missoula has nominated Missoula Fresh Market owner Ron Ramsbacher as America’s favorite Crossing Guard.
Safe Kids Missoula Executive Director said the contest is sponsored each year by Safe Kids Worldwide and FedEx to raise awareness about pedestrian safety.
“We completed a school zone pedestrian safety project with Meadow Hill Middle School, and during that project they repeatedly mentioned how grateful they were for Missoula Fresh Market for volunteering as crossing guards,” said Huck. “Missoula Fresh Market stepped up to volunteer as crossing guards following the two incidents near the crossing at 39th Street and South Reserve. In 2016, students were struck by cars as they were crossing after school.”
Huck said the nomination was to honor the local business for its help in promoting safety for school children.
“We thought it was a really great way to acknowledge something positive that a business is doing in a community while also bringing attention to an issue,” she said. “Voting is pretty easy. There’s a link that will take to the place where you can vote. They can also go to Safe Kids dot org and they can see it right there on the home page where it says ‘America’s Favorite Crossing Guard’ and just find the entry to Ron Ramsbacher of Missoula’s Fresh Market and vote. You can vote once a day until November 30th.”
