The Missoula Maulers picked-up two big victories at home this past weekend. On Friday, Missoula took over sole possession of first place in The American Western Hockey League standings by skating past The Helena Bighorns 4-2. The Maulers jumped-out to a 4-o lead during the first two periods, lead by Brett Mathews two goals. Teammates Darcy Evans and Blair Murphy each added goals to the Mauler’s efforts. A record 2,177 fans packed Glacier Ice Rink for the showdown.

On Saturday night, The Maulers beat The Great Falls Americans 6-1. Tied at 1-1, Missoula exploded out of the chute in the second period with goals by Brett Mathews and by Cory Shafer. The Maulers have won six of their last seven games. The Maulers improved their season record to 22-5. Missoula will face Bozeman in an away game on Friday.
