A Get Reacquainted Event For Missoula Big Brothers Big Sisters
Yes, you read that right. Big Brothers and Big Sisters still has an active presence in Missoula.
Many of you know that the Missoula Big Brothers Big Sisters office closed a few years back, when funding all but dried up. Such is the fate of well-meaning non-profit organizations sometimes. It was a sad day for a lot of kids in Missoula who no longer had the chance to spend quality time with an adult mentor.
But what many don't know is that the Missoula program set out to land on its feet, a reinventing of sorts, merging with the program in the Flathead Valley. From that partnership, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Montana was formed. And they will be hosting a delightful informational gathering on Thursday, January 13, at Imagine Nation Brewing Company.
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. The Missoula office needs community support in all facets, including board members, enrolling of families and volunteers, staffing, financial contributions, and event involvement. And they also currently boast an outstanding, thoroughly vetted group of mentors ready and willing to help guide kids who could use an encouraging navigational beacon that an adult could provide.
Want to know more? Celebrate January National Mentoring Month with Big Brothers Big Sisters at Missoula's Imagine Nation Brewing Company, 1151 West Broadway, Thursday, January 13, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Enjoy Irish music and talk to Big Brothers Big Sisters staff and mentors. And for every $10 donation you make, Imagine Nation will treat you to one of their awesome beers!
If you have a child who could use some extra adult guidance in their life, are interested in becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister, or believe in the program enough to offer some form of financial support, this is a great opportunity to support healthy mentoring matches in the Missoula Valley.
