Missoula Crime Report: Sexual Intercourse Without Consent Cases

The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 14 new criminal complaints this week, which is eight more than last week and right around the weekly average. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, eight cases this week involved violent crimes.

“Two of those were partner or family member assaults,” Pabst said. “We had three violent crimes that were non-family cases. In one, the defendant allegedly showed up intoxicated at a school and caused a scene. When law enforcement arrived later at the defendant’s trailer, the defendant came out with an AR-15. In another, the defendant tried to steal the victim’s bike from a gas station. When the victim when to check on his bike, the defendant allegedly punched him in the face multiple times with brass knuckles.”

In addition, Pabst said her office charged three sex cases and two involved sexual intercourse without consent.

“In one of them, there were two separate counts,” Pabst said. “In that case, the defendant forced sex on two different victims in two separate instances. Both occurred on the University of Montana campus. We charged a sexual abuse of children case. In that case, the defendant was trading child pornography over the internet and Snapchat.”

Pabst said there were two burglary cases as well.

“In one, the defendant broke into a residence and attempted to steal multiple items,” Pabst said. “The homeowners were out of town and the defendant allegedly passed out at the residence. The defendant was arrested there. In another one, the defendant entered a residence and attempted to steal a pair of new shoes. When asked to leave, the defendant attempted to kick and punch the victim. When the victim tried to remove the defendant, the defendant bit him.”

There were two new drug cases and both involved methamphetamine. One defendant was charged with possession and the other was charged with intent to sell. You can listen to Pabst’s full report below.
