Missoula Officials to Host Pilot Project Employment Connect
The first ever ‘Project Employment Connect’ event will be this Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lifelong Learning Center in Missoula
At the Project Community Connect event in January, Reaching Home Coordinator Theresa Williams said there were requests for more events throughout the year.
Williams said after some research officials discovered other communities have sponsored similar events.
“At many communities across the country they do what are called ‘mini-connects’,” said Williams. “At our last Community Connect we had some employers there for the first time, and because that went really well, we thought we should do a min-connect that focuses solely on employment, so Friday, we are piloting our first ever Project Employment Connect at the Lifelong Learning Center.”
Williams said attendees will find a host of services.
“We’ll have people there to help them with resumes and with interview skills,” she said. “We know it can be extremely intimidating and first impressions can be very important, so we’ll have volunteers there to help with interview skills. In addition, we’ll be offering haircuts. That was pivotal in our Project Community Connect event, that haircuts were transformative for people, so we’ll have a volunteer on hand for that, as well.”
