Police Ask the Public’s Help to Find Credit Card Scammers
The Missoula Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding two individuals who are suspected of stealing credit card information in order to steal from ATM machines.
Spokesman Travis Welsh said the investigation has been ongoing for several weeks throughout the state.
“Detective Mitch Lang is attempting to identify individuals who are attempting top steam credit card numbers and then using those to create false credit cards that they are using in local ATM machines,” said Welsh. “We have information that this particular couple has been in other cities in Montana, and that there are similar activities in other cities by different individuals. Whether or not these two are part of a ring is still unknown, but we are trying to work closely with our instate partners.”
Welsh said the department is using social media to ask the public’s help in identifying the two suspects.
“We’ve posted a couple of photos on Facebook,” he said. “Initially, it appears that we have a male and a female, however several people have indicated that the female is actually another male, and it does appear in a couple of the pictures that the female individual is attempting to change her appearance.”
Welsh said police are continuing their investigation, and anyone who may recognize the two suspects from the surveillance photos is asked to contact Detective Mitch Lang at 552-6292, or report anonymously through Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
