Safe Kids Missoula Presents Video Competition for Teens
When it comes to good advice, Safe Kids Missoula says ‘Take it From a Teen’.
Safe Kids Coalition Coordinator Kira Huck said on Friday that Safe Kids Worldwide is presenting the ‘Take it From a Teen’ video challenge.
“This is an opportunity presented by Safe Kids Worldwide and program sponsor General Motors,” said Huck. “It’s open to teens age 13 to 19 who live in Missoula, Ravalli, Granite, Powell, Lake, Sanders or Mineral Counties. The competition asks teens to create a 60 second video that answer a driving or passenger safety question, such as ‘How would you tell your friends to slow down’, How would you tell your friends to buckle up?’ or ‘How would you tell your friends not to text and drive?’.
Huck said the prizes are worth the effort.
“The winner of the local competition receives $100, and we will submit their video to the national competition and the winner there receives $1,000 and will have the opportunity to have their video professionally recreated and produced.”
Huck said the videos must be no longer than 60 seconds and will be judged on their use of the theme and their creativity. There are some rules to follow, as well.
“Use appropriate language and gestures, and don’t do anything dangerous like jumping over cars or breaking the law,” she said.
The only drawback is the deadline which is February 1.
Teens must submit their entries online to Safe Kids Missoula dot org, where all the rules for the contest are also listed.
