After all the anticipation, one of the best Bobcat football players to ever play has been drafted to the NFL.

The 2022 NFL Draft is currently underway with Day 2, and one Montana State player has heard his name called. Linebacker Troy Andersen, rated as one of the Top 5 linebackers in the draft, has been picked up in the second round by the Atlanta Falcons with the 58th pick.

Troy Andersen has had a storied career at Montana State University. Troy has been a four-year starter for the football team and has played quarterback, running back, and linebacker during his tenure. For the past few years, he has been focusing on playing inside linebacker, and the decision has paid off.

Troy Andersen has been one of the most productive linebackers in Montana State history and is a player opposing teams had to gameplan against. This past season, Troy Andersen was the runner-up for the Buck Buchanan Award, which is the nation's top defensive player.

The Atlanta Falcons needed help desperately on the defensive side, and haven't had a strong defensive presence for a few years. Troy Andersen can step in right away as a Day 1 starter. His length and athleticism should help defend against the NFC South's explosive offensives.

We are so proud to see Troy Andersen represent, not only Montana State football, but the whole state of Montana. It will be great to see another homegrown kid play at the professional level on Sundays coming this fall.

Way to go Troy! We will be cheering you on!
