After Sunday's fatal bus crash in which two people died and every other passenger suffered some kind of injury, many listeners asked why buses were not equipped with seat belts to protect the passengers. I spoke with Dan Ronan with the American Bus Association about the issue. That interview is attached. Ronan says a combination of government inaction and excessive costs to upgrade older buses are the main reasons why most buses are not equipped with seat belts. He says most newer model buses do have them, but the older model Rimrock bus did not.
