I know that in a blink of an eye things can change and become very dangerous in Winter while driving. Take some of these tips and reminders with you on the road this winter.

There are a lot of things to keep in mind while driving in icy and blizzard conditions, but even a light frosty day can turn treacherous in winter on the roads. AAA, has some great advice on their website.

Some reminders I know to pass on are:

  • When going around a corner or taking a turn on the interstate, it is best to not brake at all. Give yourself plenty of time to break ahead and asses to a slower speed then it is to get there then break and go around the turn which can cause sliding.
  • Two hands on the wheel and two eyes on the road. It's true, be aware and pay attention. The phone call, text, FB or social media can wait.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to be and don't rush.

Consumerreports.org also has a valid case on winter tires and them being important in winter areas. They have a chart showing all vehicles performed better in snow with winter tires. So always a thought if you can afford them.
