Yellowstone National Park is announcing a hike in park visitor fees.

"Currently, there's a $25 dollar vehicle pass that covers both parks for seven days," said Yellowstone National Park Public Information Officer Traci Weaver. "One of the significant changes will be day-park passes for Yellowstone-only rather than Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park day passes. Soon, you'll have to get $30 separate passes for each park."

Most of the money raised by park fees actually goes to work in the park.

"Eighty percent of our entrance-fee dollars stay right here in Yellowstone National Park to go towards really important projects such as native cutthroat trout restoration as well as facilities for visitors such as road repairs, campground upgrades, and trail repairs," Weaver said. "All of those things are very important to visitor experience here as well."

Yellowstone hasn’t raised its entrance fees since 2006. The new fee schedule will begin on June 1st.
