The 42nd Annual International Wildlife Film Festival returns to the Missoula from April 13 through the 19 with most films showing at the Roxy Theater, with special showings at the Wilma Theater.

Artistic Director Carrie Richer said the week will officially kickoff not with a film, but with a parade.

“We’ll have our traditional Wild Walk parade on Saturday which will kick off the festival,” said Richer. “Following the parade there will be a big wild festival at Caras Park, and we’ll continue to show films all week long until April 20th. There’s a huge array of films, so there’s something for everyone.”

Richer points out some of the highlights of the festival.

“There’s an awesome series called Epic Yellowstone,” she said. “It’s a four-part series by the Smithsonian from a company called Grizzly Creek Productions out of Montana. There’s one episode called ‘Life on the Wing’ shows off the aerial views of Yellowstone, and there’s another part of that series called ‘Return of the Predators’ which highlights bears, wolves and mountain lions and that one is showing at the Wilma Theater on Friday night for free at the Wilma Theater.”

Single adult tickets are eight dollars, seven dollars for seniors and students. A screening pass is also available for $75 to view all the films.

The festival is an annual competition that has been narrowed down to 70 films by a panel of judges. There are 10 categories with three semi-finalists for each category at the Wilma Theater on April 19. The awards ceremony and film screening is free to the public where trophies will be presented to the winners.
