Bitterroot River Cleanup Was Successful
Almost 2,000 pounds of trash was pulled from the Bitterroot River at the recent river cleanup, sponsored by the Bitter Root Water Forum. Katie Vennie reports that 80 volunteers selected sections to either clean up along the banks or float through, picking up trash that way. The most unusual trash item was a clothes drier door. She said there was less trash than in previous years. However, the annual cleanup is a reminder to "pack it in, pack it out" if you're recreating on or near the valley's main waterway.
The weekend also included a 5K Run for the River. Katie said over 80 people participated in that event, too. Thanks to the community for all the help. The Water Forum will have other volunteer opportunities and classes coming up.
