Daines Supports Naming School After War Hero
The effort to name the new Bozeman high school after a war hero and Medal of Honor recipient has now received the backing of US Senator Steve Daines (R-MT).
Daines is not only a US Senator, he also grew up in and still lives in Bozeman, You can now add him to the list of names in support of naming the new high school in honor of Staff Sergeant Travis Atkins, who will be posthumously honored with the Medal of Honor later this week by President Trump.
Travis Atkins is an American hero. He embodies what it means to selflessly serve. As someone raised in Bozeman public schools, I can’t think of someone better to name our new high school after, as well as the VA clinic in Bozeman. – Senator Steve Daines
PRIOR POST- NEW HIGH SCHOOL: NAME IT AFTER WAR HERO?
On March 27th, Staff Sgt. Travis Atkins will be posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by President Trump at the White House.
I've heard this idea from fellow veteran friends on both the Left and the Right: Hey, if Bozeman is looking for the name of their new high school, why not name it after a great war hero who gave his life for this country- and hails from Bozeman, Montana? I concur- what a great idea.
Air Force veteran Troy Downing called in to our statewide radio show, Montana Talks, from Bozeman and called on folks to urge the school board to make the change.
