First Night Spotlight Auditions For High School Students Are Next Week
High school students who audition for a First Night Spotlight performance for this year's New Year's Eve extravaganza will have their opportunity next week.
Arts Missoula (formerly the Missoula Cultural Council) and UM Productions will team up to put on the First Night Spotlight. Executive Director Tom Benson said the Spotlight is one of the main events of the citywide New Year's Eve event.
"It's basically a high school talent show that takes place at the Dennison Theater on the UM campus and it's either our 10th or 11th year of holding the event," Benson said. "It's open to all high school students from Missoula and the surrounding area. It's similar to a lot of TV shows where kids get up on stage and there are three judges and at the end of the show we'll crown a winner."
Benson said the auditions will be held this Monday at Sentinel High School at 3:30 p.m. ON Wednesday at Big Sky High School at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Hellgate High School at 3:15 p.m. and again on Saturday December 10 at the Dennison Theater on campus at 11:30 a.m.
First Night buttons for admission to all events are $15 and will be available at multiple locations throughout Missoula, however it's two dollars extra for Spotlight tickets.
