Montana Governor Greg Gianforte appeared on Fox News this week during his visit to the southern border.

He was interviewed by Fox News anchor Ainsley Earhardt, who asked him about the conditions that he and other western states governors have witnessed.

“This is an unmitigated disaster of Joe Biden’s own making,” said Governor Gianforte. “It is a human humanitarian disaster and a national security disaster. In July alone, we saw about nine tons of methamphetamine come across the southern border.”

Gianforte then focused on the number of illegal immigrants who have already crossed the southern border.

“The number of illegal immigrants has gone up every single month since Joe Biden has taken office,” he said. “We've had over 1.3 million illegals apprehended at the southern border, and those are just the ones that were caught. That's more than the entire population of my state of Montana. This is totally brought on by the lack of leadership out of the Biden administration, and the reason we're here is to draw attention to this issue.”

Gianforte said he and his fellow governors are receiving no response from the President and his administration.

“We've been reaching out to the administration, and all we've gotten back is crickets,” he said. “It's time to bring focus on the fact that it is the federal government's job to deal with this. We put forward 10 common sense steps the Biden administration could take right now to get the situation under control.”

Gianforte also pointed out a glaring fact about the President and the southern border.

“As we found out recently, Joe Biden's never been here,” he said. “He thinks if he ignores it, it'll go away. It won't. We're feeling it back in Montana. In July, we saw over 700 pounds of fentanyl apprehended here at the border, almost nine tons of methamphetamine that those drugs are making it to Montana, and because of that every state is a border state when it comes to the drugs in our communities.”

Gianforte offered another piece of advice to the Biden administration.

“We should be working to end catch and release,” he said. “The Biden administration has stopped deporting criminals, they need to start doing it again like the Trump administration did. We need to secure the border. These are some of the common sense things that we need to get on the agenda. So that we get this fixed.”

Here are the 10 ‘common sense ideas’ the governors have offered to the Biden Administration.

  1. Continue Title 42 public health restrictions.
  2. Fully reinstate the Migrant Protection Protocols.
  3. Finish securing the border.
  4. End catch and release.
  5. Clear the judicial backlog.
  6. Resume the deportation of all criminals.
  7. Dedicate federal resources to eradicate human trafficking and drug trafficking.
  8. Re-enter all agreements with our Northern Triangle partners and Mexico.
  9. Send a clear message to potential migrants.
  10. Deploy more federal law enforcement officers and National Guard troops
