The University Of Montana Men’s Basketball squad ran into a score happy Weber State team and fell in a 80-64 loss in Ogden Utah on Saturday Night. Junior guard and the nation’s leading scorer, Damian Lillard, led the Wildcats charge with 21 points.
Montana started out well, grabbing a 21-19 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. Then Weber State answered with 22-7 scoring burst to take a 41-27 lead. The Wildcats led 49-39 at halftime.
The Wildcats continued the pace in the second-half, building a 61-38 lead. Montana would rally behind 3 pointers from Derek Selvig and Mike Weisner to close the gap to 65-57, but could not get any closer. Will Cherry led the Grizzlies in scoring with 15 points.
The loss snapped Montana’s six-game win streak. The Grizzlies are now 11-6 overall and 4-1 in league. The Grizzlies return home to Dahlberg Arena on Thursday to face Northern Colorado. The Bears and Grizzlies will tip-off at 7:05.
