Men's Grizzly basketball player Will Cherry has been announced as a candidate for the 2012 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award. Cherry leads the Griz in scoring with 14.6 points per game and also leads the team in assists and steals.

A few of the winners from the previous years are players who were superstars in college and have seen some time in the NBA. Those include: Dee Brown of Illinois, DJ Augustin of Texas, and last year's winner, Kemba Walker of Connecticut, who was a first round draft pick last year.

The winner will receive the award in New Orleans on the same day of the championship game, as part of Final Four weekend.
