He’s Running in Iowa…So He’s Abandoning Colstrip

When the devastating news came out that Colstrip 1&2 would be facing an early shutdown at the coal-fired power plant in Montana, Gov. Steve Bullock (D-MT) was talking climate change as he campaigned in Iowa. He didn't say a peep about saving Colstrip.

Since then, Gov. Steve Bullock was asked by a San Francisco newspaper where he stood on coal. He responded by basically talking about weaning our country off of coal.

The Washington Free Beacon was quick to note Bullock's hypocrisy, after he campaigned for re-election in 2016 as if he was a supporter of coal and Colstrip.

Here's what he told the San Francisco Chronicle:

"The IPCC says, you know, that it's impractical to go in the immediate term, which is to say, ‘Let's shut all these coal plants down.' So what I think we need to do in the interim is recognize, as we wean off of coal, we have to be taking steps to also mitigate the impacts of greenhouse gas when it comes to coal."
