Broadwater County Deputy Killed In High Speed Pursuit On Interstate 90 – Shots Fired – Suspect Injured – Westbound Lanes Closed at Mile Marker 129
A harrowing high speed chase that began in Three Forks and resulted in the shooting death of a Broadwater County sheriff's deputy continued across the state to just outside Rock Creek came to an end at about 1:30 a.m. after the suspect's vehicle was disabled and one was shot by law enforcement after he opened fire.
Missoula County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Brenda Bassett said multiple agencies were involved, from Gallatin, Silver Bow, Missoula and the Montana Highway Patrol. She said no law enforcement officers were injured in the pursuit or the shootout, however, multiple vehicles were damaged. We later received news from Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin who told NBC Montana that a Broadwater County Sheriff’s deputy was killed in the shootout that occurred before the chase.
One of the suspects was transported to St. Patrick Hospital, while the other was taken into custody.
The westbound lanes of I-90 are closed at this time at mile marker 129 just east of Rock Creek.
