Strong winds that blew through the Bitterroot Valley on Wednesday afternoon blew down a set of power lines just outside Lolo near Trader Brothers.

Sergeant Sean Finlay with the Montana Highway Patrol said the lines came down across Old Highway 93, just off the main highway.

"We had a report of some power poles being blown down on Old U.S. Highway 93 South near Trader Brothers, and the road was shut down for maybe half an hour," Finlay said. "When I arrived on the scene, Trader Brothers had been evacuated just in case one of the nearby power poles might have blown down because of the wind."

Finlay said the downed power lines were cleared quickly.

"It looks like the power company was able to get everything under control," he said. "They set up some detour signs, and they'll be putting up some new power poles this evening, and hopefully they'll have everything back up as quickly as possible.

No one was injured due to the downed power lines.
