There are a few go-to foods that I will always appreciate, and pizza happens to be one of them.
I have argued that pizza may be the perfect food. One pizza can include all the food groups on one pie, depending on what you order.
Missoula has had some great pizzerias in the past. There are a few of them that are still missed years later. Who remembers Sharif’s, Shakey’s, Red Pies Over Montana, Tower Pizza, or Howard’s, just to name a few.
Missoula’s Pizza Past: Joints We Still Miss
There were so many hours that I spent in Village Inn pizza, watching old black and white Laurel and Hardy and Three Stooges movies while eating a slice and drinking from those dark red plastic cups. The first “job” I ever had was at Little Big Man Pizza, not officially. My friends and I spent so much time there that they asked if I wanted to start cleaning up. They paid me in pizza.

Needless to say, I have spent some time in pizza joints in Missoula over the years. These days there aren’t big red plastic cups, or black and white movies, but the pizza being made is still great.
Recently we asked our listeners who has the best pizza in Missoula, and they didn’t disappoint. Not only did our listeners give props to pizza joints from the past, but they also gave some credit to quality pizza I haven’t had the privilege to try yet.

Not surprisingly, a pizza place that got a lot of votes is Biga Pizza. Not only do they have some great pizza, but they have been featured on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” with Guy Fieri.
