Late Night Fire Draws Quick Response From Two Missoula Fire Departments
Just after 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Missoula Rural Fire was called out to a structure fire at 585 Lost Mine Loop in the Upper Miller Creek area.
Assistant Chief Brent Christofferson said multiple vehicles were sent to the fire..
“We responded with two engines and an aerial and two water tenders along with our command vehicles,” Christofferson said. “Missoula City Fire also sent an engine and Missoula Emergency Services stood by with an ambulance if needed.”
Christofferson said the fire was in the attic, which presented some challenges for firefighters.
“It was one of those types of operations that took extensive overhaul because of the different types of insulation up in the attic and the embers that had spread throughout the attic,” he said.”It took a little time for firefighters to get all that taken care of.”
The family was able to escape the home and is staying with relatives. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no damage estimate has yet been released.
