Both the University of Montana and Sentinel High School received good news recently.

Both institutions of learning received prestigous academic awards for their athletics programs.

The University's volleyball program won the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, their second in three years.

To win this award, a team must have a grade point average of at least 3.3 during the fall and spring semesters. The Griz, who were one of 92 programs to receive the award, finshed with a team GPA of 3.46.

Additionally, Sentinel High School was awarded with the Montana High School Association's NorthWestern Energy Academic Excellence Award for the 2010-11 school year. One winner from each classification level (AA, A, B and C) is selected, and the Spartans received the Class AA award, the fifth time in school history that's happened.
