Male Suspect Sought for Smashing Multiple Vehicle Windows
The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a male suspect sought in connection with numerous vehicle windows being vandalized and smashed.
Public Information Officer Brenda Bassett has details of the numerous incidents that occurred late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
“Early this (Thursday) morning, one of our deputies was dispatched to the 11000 block of Highway 93 South for the report of a vehicle window being broken in,” said Bassett. “When he arrived he noticed the driver’s front window had been completely smashed. Shortly thereafter, they discovered that there were at least 16 other vehicles that had their windows smashed. Some were front windows, some both the side and front windows had been completely broken.”
Bassett said deputies received reports of a possible suspect who had been spotted in the area at the time.
“We started receiving reports that a white male wearing a black hoodie had been running east on Tyler Way, so we had deputies and MHP troopers covering that area, but unfortunately they weren’t able to locate the suspect,” she said. “Many people woke up to check their vehicles and some found windows smashed.”
Bassett said law enforcement is seeking help from homeowners or businesses in the Lolo area with surveillance video that may be able to help identify the suspect.
“A lot of people in the Lolo area have really good surveillance cameras, so we’re asking people in that area to see their cameras had caught anything,” she said. “A few weeks ago we had some really incredible video where you could see the suspect clearly, so within a day we had an ID on them.”
Anyone who may be able to provide assistance to the Sheriff’s Office is asked to call 258-4810.
