Keep your eyes on the sky on Father’s Day weekend, as the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association will be hosting their ‘fly-in’, and volunteers are needed for the event.

Marketing Manager for Neptune Aviation, Kevin Condit said the event will draw a large number of participants.

“Literally hundreds of aircraft will be flying in from all over the country to enjoy a couple days of aviation gathering, and it will be open to the public on Saturday, June 16th,” said Condit. “The AOPA and the Missoula International Airport are looking for volunteers. We’re looking for volunteers who either know something about aircraft, which will be helpful, of they can have no experience at all, so that it’s all hands on deck.”

Condit described some of the duties that volunteers will be asked to do.

“Folks that are familiar with aviation can help guide the aircraft in to their parking spaces, washing aircraft, and that kind of thing,” he said. “Those who have no knowledge or experience with aircraft can help guide cars to the parking lots, take down displays, or even some dirty work like emptying trash cans.”

Condit said the event is free to the public on Saturday, June 16, and there will be some educational seminars for anyone interested in learning how to fly, or has let their pilot’s license lapse, there will be training opportunities and seminars.
