The annual Missoula in Motion Commuter Challenge gets underway Monday and lasts through May 14.

"It's our annual head-to head, business-to-business competition to see who can commute sustainably the most," said Project Specialist Katherine Auget. "We do it every spring and it's a chance to try different transportation options and maybe create some new habits now that the weather is nicer, like walking or biking to work."

Auge said there are many options, and not all mean no driving at all.

"Mountain Line and the U-Dash buses are both free, and they're great services in Missoula," she said. "It's not necessarily staying out of a vehicle altogether, but we really just discourage driving alone, so carpooling is a great option or taking one of the van pool rides."

Ange said the competition has a different flavor in 2017.

"We're doing a bingo theme this year," she continued. "Individuals who complete the different challenges on our bingo cards will receive different prizes and we'll also have team prizes and we're received lots of prize donations from local businesses."

There will be an official kickoff function on Monday at the Missoula Brewing Company from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and anyone who arrives in sustainable transportation will receive their first beverage for one dollar.
