Missoula police are investigating a hit and run incident that occurred on Thursday, January 7 at the intersection of Higgins and Broadway.

Spokesman Travis Welsh said it happened at about 3:40 p.m.

"The vehicle struck her on the hip and did leave some bruising, but the contact was not enough to knock her to the ground," Welsh said. "Surprisingly enough the driver of the vehicle appeared to acknowledge that she had struck her. She rolled down her window and said something to her before turning eastbound on Broadway and leaving the scene."

It is not known where the woman's final destination was, but Welsh said she was eastbound on Broadway.

"She was driving a white SUV, and the pedestrian thought it might be a Lexus, but no further description was provided," he said. "The only description of the suspect was that she appeared to in her 50's and may have had a southern accent."

Welsh asks anyone who may have witnessed the hit and run to contact the police department at 552-6300, or call Crimestoppers at 721-44-44.
