The heavy snowfall in Missoula and the surrounding communities was by no means a normal event, but just how extraordinary was it? Meteorologist for the National Weather Service, Trent Smith tells us about Tuesday, the snowiest day of the storm.

But the big story isn't the most snowfall on one day, it's the total for the entire storm. The National Weather Service categorizes storms by "events" which can last multiple days, Smith explains.
