In a story published Monday in the Weekly Standard, the number of Americans receiving the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) grew to almost 47 million at the end of 2012.
The Wall Street Journal reports today that over 45 million Americans, that’s nearly 15% of the U. S. population relied on Food Stamps in August. According to the U. S. Department of Agriculture, that’s a 8.1% increase in the past year alone.
