Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Wade Palmer is home. The injured Montana Highway Patrolman was discharged from a Salt Lake City hospital Wednesday morning, and after a flight back to Missoula, he was driven to his Stevensville home, accompanied by a long line of patrol cars. A parade of law enforcement vehicles brought him through Missoula and up US 93 into the Bitterroot Valley. On the home stretch to Stevi, local residents gathered at the intersection of US 93 and the Stevensville cut-off road. Others were gathered at the north edge of the town. Two large American flags had been unfurled at the Bitterroot River bridge to also welcome him home. Trooper Palmer was shot three times in the head and neck about two months ago at Evaro and is on the road to recovery.
