‘Occupy’ Won’t Leave, Offer Compromises To County [AUDIO]
In a letter dated December 12th, the Occupy UM workgroup answered a request by Missoula County officials to vacate their two-month old campsite on the courthouse lawn. While tacitly refusing to leave, the group did promise to work harder to keep conditions sanitary, and thanked County officials for placing a portable toilet at the site. They have also established new guidelines in using a large tent for meetings, teach-ins and other ‘beneficial activities’. They also want to start feeding hungry people at the site on Sundays through a program called ‘food not bombs’. In addition, Missoula County Communications and Project Manager Anne Hughes advised protesters that the site was needed for first night on New Year ’s Eve..that interview is attached.
The protesters have another ‘general assembly’ meeting Tuesday evening.
