A University of Montana student fell to his death early Saturday morning on campus.

Vice President for Integrated Communications Peggy Kuhr told KGVO News that the unidentified man fell from the fifth floor of Miller Hall at about 7:45 Saturday morning. Kuhr said University of Montana Police and Missoula Fire and Medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the man to St. Patrick Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kuhr said the Missoula County Coroner's Office is now handling the case, and will determine the manner and cause of death, whether the fall was an accident or a suicide.

Missoula County Sheriff's Office Public Information Director Brenda Bassett confirmed late Sunday that the 18 year-old student committed suicide. KGVO News does not release any personal information such as a name or a hometown in a suicide.
